Happy Meal's "Lil McD" Mobile Game
I was responsible for leading the 3D creative direction and asset-modeling for this program. This mobile game presented some unique challenges such as modeling a McD's kitchen or creating custom avatars that tie to the style of HM toys. This program was also a global one, so making sure the McDs' assets cater to specified markets was important.
. . .
Below is the gameplay demo of the mobile game where you make and deliver as many orders as you can within the time frame. Ever wanted to know how it's like to make Happy Meals at McD's? Play this game!
I was responsible for designing and modeling the characters for the gameplay. There are four playable avatars so I explored different styles inspired from Overcooked 2 and Wii avatars. I had each character wear various uniforms from managerial attire to kitchen cooking aprons.
For animations I wanted to go for an exaggerated bouncy motion that can be seen easily on various phone resolutions. Below are various animation cycles for all avatars.
For the 3D background, I was tasked in making a simplified version of the McD's kitchen so I modeled the stainless desks, kitchen items, floor, and walls. For texturing, I wanted the world to feel presentable from the camera's perspective so I UV mapped the reflection onto the diffuse for the tables and fryer. Below are some renders of the kitchen throughout stages of development.
I had the chance to 3D model some of the items you can put into the HM box so below are the renders.
